La Poesía de la Comida
(This is my recipe)
INGREDIENTS
Ajiaco
(6-8 SERVINGS)
3 Chicken breast, skin removed
12 cups water
3 ears fresh corn, cuted into 2 pieces
¼ teaspoon salt
Pepper to taste
2 chicken bouillon cubes
3 scallions
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoon chopped cilantro
2 cups papa criolla (Andean Potato)
3 medium white potatoes, peeled and sliced
3 medium red potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/3 cup guascas
1 cup heavy cream for serving
1 cup capers for serving
DIRECTIONS
1.
In a large pot, place the chicken, corn, chicken
bouillon, cilantro, scallions, garlic, salt and pepper. Add the water and bring
to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and cook for about 35 to 40 minutes,
until chicken is cooked and tender. Remove the chicken and set aside.

pollo, maíz, pollo bouillon, cilantro, scallions, ajo, sal y pimienta. Anade el
agua y lleva a ebullición, entonces reduce el fuego a medio y cocina para sobre
35 minutos a 40 minutos, hasta pollo se cocina y tierno. Quita el pollo y dejar
de lado.
2. Continue cooking the corn for 30 more minutes. Discard
green onion and add red potatoes, white potatoes, and the guacas. Cook for 30 more minutes.

Para 30 minutos. Descarta cebolla verde y añade papas rojas, papas blanco,
y los guacas. Cocina para 30 más minutos
3. Uncover and add the frozen papa criolla and simmer for 15
to 20 minutes, season with salt and pepper.

4. Cut the chicken meat into small pieces and return to the
pot. Serve the Ajiaco hot with capers and heavy cream on the side.

Reflection-
During the translation of the recipe i learned a lot of Spanish verbs that had to do with the food theme. While writing my recipe and ode i learned how to translate in Spanish and do it effectively. Columbia i found out has a very diverse climate and many vegetables are grown there. I learned a lot about cooking and the process of finding the right ingredients to make a authentic dish. It takes a lot of effort and precision to follow an exact recipe. I am proud of myself for being able to make such a complicated recipe and for being able to translate complicates sentences into working literature.
Arte y Lengua
This project involved creating a piece of art. This piece of art had to be related to at least one Mexican or Spanish artist. Our project had to have connected themes or inspirations that the artist had.
During this project i learned so much about Spanish artists. I also learned a lot about the techniques and inspirations artists had. During the project we had to do many revisions and during this process i learned a lot about how to use verbs in the past tense. I also learned that you have to be patient in order to make good corrections. This project was difficult for me because it was very hard for me to communicate how my artwork represented something that Salvador Dali would do. Spanish writing is very difficult especially when writing about historical content. Overall however this project was a great learning experience.
Born Not in The USA

Isaac Korce
Mi mentor es Salvador Dalí. Escogí a Salvador porque sus obras son surrealistas. Salvador hizo pinturas, Fabrica esculturas y saca fotografía. Salvador Dalí es más famoso por sus pinturas. Me gusta el estilo de Salvador Dalí. Tu puedes reconoces sus pinturas por los temas surrealista. Salvador Dalí fue de España. De una pequeña ciudad llamagdo Figueres. Salvador Dalí incorpora relojes, elefantes, y huevos en sus obras. Los temas de Salvador Dalí son muy reuducionnios.
Mi obra de arte es muy surrealista. Mi obra de arte tiene un collage para el fondo. El collage es hecho de pedacitos de fotos de revistas. Las fotos de revistas son paralelo al tema de del Dalí surrealismo. Salvador Dalí tiene tuvo muchos objetos un sus pinturas. Yo también tengo muchos objetos en mi pintura. En el primero capa hay un elefante. Este elefante representa el elefante en la pintura “Los Elefantes”. El Elefante tiene alto pies. El elefante es muy surrealista. El elefante se encuentra fuera de mi obra de arte.
Salvador Dalí fue diferente. Sus obras de arte representan esta parte de él. Salvador Dalí es muy creativo. Esta es el razón principal por que tiempo I hace mi obra de arte. Salvador Dalí también utiliza único antecedentes en sus obras de arte. Yo tengo un fondo único y un elefante ` creativo. Salvador Dalí es muy insporandandos.
Project Takeaway
Born Not in The USA
The not born in the USA book is biggest project we have done in Spanish this year. Which tests our knowledge as well as our speaking skills in Spanish. This book was challenging yet fun to make. I feel as though this book was a great test of real like applications of learning Spanish. I always enjoy doing projects with several real world applications.

Del Alma
The exhibition with Del Alma was fun and inspirational to get to read my book to a bunch of kids. I felt honored to have kids who speak Spanish listen to my book and understand what it means. This exhibition was extremely instrumental to the importance i got out of this project.
In Class Reflection
During this project many new Spanish speaking skills as well as vocab came up. One of these new speaking skills was the ability to say words that end "ciones". The entire first part of the year i would always try to say this words with that part as an ending and i could never do it. Now after practicing my book many times i am able to say words with this ending quite well. I have also gained some new vocabulary from doing my project. This includes the words i spent hours figuring out the proper usage because they weren't already taught to us. So overall i gained a lot of new Spanish speaking skills.
This project challenged me in several different ways and on of those ways was in my speaking skills. Before this year i had never done any real Spanish speaking and now that i am speaking to little kids it makes speaking Spanish correctly very important. One so you don't look like a fool in front of the Spanish speaking kids. Also you want to be able to say the words that you have spent much time finding and knowing how to use them in grammatically correct sentences the right way. I also found that making corrections on Spanish words without someone who knows what type of sentence craft the sentences should be in. It took me a really hard time to figure out whether something sounded right or not. Overall this project was very challenging but rewarding. Rewarding in the way that we got to exhibit our project to kids at Needham elementary. I would look foreword to doing another project like this again.
